Girl Guides run food drive in support of tornado victims

The Oxford Mills Sisterhood of Guiding collected food items for victims of the Ottawa-Gatineau Tornadoes. The Guides ran a food drive from October to November. A total of 250 pounds of food was donated to the Ottawa Food Bank on Friday.

Organizer Shelley McKay Young says it was suggested the guides do something to help out. She says the idea of a food drive came up.

The Guides have been collecting food every Tuesday night for the past nine weeks. The girls brought in 348 items.

Young says the food bank was happy about the donation. She says the sisterhood came together and everyone did their part to make it happen.
