Charity Expo focuses on local volunteer opportunities

The inaugural North Grenville Charity Expo will bring together organizations from across the region. The event, hosted by the North Grenville Community Foundation, is set for Saturday. It is being held at the North Grenville Municipal Centre. The Expo opens to the public from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

A total of 36 charities are taking part. The organizations are participating in a panel discussion in the morning about volunteer retention, recruitment and recognition. Guest speaker Susan Smith, Executive Director of Kemptville & District Home Support, will be talking about how to avoid volunteer burnout.

Organizer Ann Max says charities are not just in need of donations, but also new volunteers. She says the Expo is an opportunity for people to come learn about volunteer opportunities locally and different ways they can help out.

There is no cost to attend the Expo. There is still room for more charities to sign up for the event.

Organizer Tom Insley says all kinds of organizations will be participating, including faith based, animal welfare and health and wellness.
