HOL looking for people to adopt families this Christmas

The House of Lazarus is adopting out families, couples and individuals this holiday season. People can choose to provide a Christmas meal, gifts or both for food bank clients. All seniors have already been adopted. There are about 60 families and 30 individuals and couples on the waiting list.

Client Services Coordinator Kim Merkley says the adoption program continues to grow every year. She says it started with just families, but grew to include seniors, couple and individuals so all food bank clients could celebrate Christmas.

There is no dollar value attached. People are provided the age and gender of each person and a wish list.

Merkley says clients are beyond grateful when they come to pick up their hampers.

The goal is to have everyone adopted out by December 1 and get the items to the food bank for pick-up the week of December 10 to 14. For more information or to participate, contact Merkley directly by emailing [email protected].
