The totals are in. Pet Valu in Kemptville raised $2,158 and collected 1,173 cans of food for two local cat rescues. The money came from a raffle that ran throughout October.
Everything will be split equally between Furry Tales Cat Rescue and Spencerville and Area TNR Stray Cats Project.
Organizer Rhonda Onasanya says Kemptville is a very generous community. She says businesses donated great prizes for the raffle and customers were happy to buy tickets and donate cans.
Pet Valu surpassed its goal of $2,000 and 1,000 cans.
Onasanya says the totals were surprising. She says the money and food will help the two rescues get through the winter.
Pet Valu plans on running another raffle in the spring. The store works with the rescues to adopt out animals and always has cats and kittens available for adoption on site.
