The Grenville County OPP have been looking into reports of missing or deceased cats. Officers responded to six calls for service in relation to cats. The OPP believes the influx of calls are related to an article published in a local newspaper about the increase in missing or dead cats in Kemptville.

Police, assisted by a Conservation Officer, investigated the incidents. The OPP says there is no reason to suspect foul play. The deceased cats appear to have been killed by an animal and the Conservation Authorities suspect coyotes.

The OPP will not investigate a missing cat unless criminal activity is suspected. Pet owners are encouraged to keep their pets indoors.
