An oil change promotion run by Canadian Tire brought in dollars for a local man battling stage four cancer. Ryan Forbes, a husband and father, was diagnosed in July. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Canadian Tire raised $581 for the Forbes family by donating $5 from oil changes and raffling off a push lower. The promotion ran throughout the month of August.
Service Manager Sam Le Goueff says the store saw new customers coming in to get oil changes in support of the family.
Julia Forbes, Ryan’s wife, is picking up the money this weekend. Le Goueff says she is very appreciative of the fundraising efforts happening locally.
The money will help cover the loss of income, childcare costs, parking, travel, meals and future treatment plans not covered by insurance.
