Local students can experience Queen's Park in 3-day Model Parliament

Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark says high-school aged students from the riding with an interest in provincial politics now have a chance to get an up-close look at how decisions are made at Queen’s Park. The Legislative Assembly of Ontario is accepting applications from students in grades 10-12 to take part in its three-day Model Parliament from February 25-27, 2015. One student from each of the province’s 107 ridings will be selected, but those interested in applying must act quickly as the deadline to apply is October 16.

Last year was the debut for the program, which gives students an opportunity to meet key people at Queen’s Park, tour the Legislative building and learn about its fascinating history, and study Ontario’s legislative process. The highlight of the program comes on the third day when participants take their seats inside the Chamber for a simulated session of the Assembly.
