A North Grenville District High School student has won the Schulich Leader Scholarship. Angelica Paynter is getting $100,000 to study engineering at the University of Ottawa. Her mother Bev Paynter says the scholarship is life changing.

The scholarship is based on leadership, community involvement and academics. It is the largest STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) scholarship in the country. This is the first time a North Grenville District High School student has won. Bev Paynter says she is thrilled.

Being a Schulich Leader scholar will open many doors for Paynter. She says the scholarship makes life easier.
