Local volunteers will be honoured at the 2018 North Grenville Civic Awards. The ceremony is set for Monday at the North Grenville Municipal Centre beginning at 6:30pm. The awards are presented annually to volunteers in different age groups, including youth, adult and senior. Deputy Mayor Barb Tobin says school children will also be recognized.
The award categories include arts and culture, exemplary work in the community, environment, health and wellness, heritage and recreation and sport. Tobin says one person will be singled out by Mayor David Gordon during the ceremony.
The ceremony lasts about 30 minutes and community members are encouraged to attend. The Civic Awards program started in 2009 and more than 30 individuals and 5 groups have been recognized for their efforts in the community to date.
