Police try to trace last steps of woman found in Rideau River Aug. 26

The Ottawa Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the death of a woman whose body was found in the Rideau River on August 26th. Foul play is not suspected; however, investigators are trying to locate her property and piece together the victim’s movements prior to her death. Her missing property includes an Apple shopping bag that contained a Samsung Galaxy cell phone, a Canon camera and a purple Ipod Nano. Investigators believe she may have been riding a bike. Police have established the identity of the woman, but will not be releasing her name at the request of the family. A photo of the victim has been released so that anyone who may have seen her the morning of Tuesday August 26 in the area of Hog’s Back Park, Vincent Massey Park or Carleton University will recognize her and come forward to police.
Anyone who saw or spoke to the woman that day is asked to call Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Unit at 613-236-1222 ext 5493 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 or toll free at 1-800-222-8477.
