Looking for a good read? The Merrickville United Church Book Sale kicks off this Saturday and runs until the end of May. Volunteer Kym Racine Chambers says launching the book sale during the Merrickville Garage Sale brings people in.
Books range in price from 25 cents to $2. The fundraiser brings in between $5,000 and $7,000 each year. Racine Chambers says the money is used for general church repairs.
A portion of the funds are donated to community organizations, like the Food Cupboard and Merrickville Public Library. The library also gets first pick to replace their own worn copies of books. Any extra books are passed along to the Kemptville District Hospital and the Kemptville Youth Centre for their book sale in August.  Â
