In an update on the story of former Kemptville resident John Maguire, the RCMP and Foreign Affairs refuse to confirm the 23-year-old recent convert to Islam is under investigation for terrorist activity in Syria. The tale of the small-town hockey player and punk music fan turned Islamic extremist made national headlines last week. Maguire’s mother has said she doesn’t think she will ever see her son alive again, and believes he has become part of the ISIS faction overseas. The Facebook account for Yahya Maguire was taken down recently but on August 27 a new Twitter account listed quotes from the Quran, and shared an article entitled “Six Ways to Gain Reward, Even After Your Death.”
