Invest In A Healthy Work-Life Balance

The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit wants you to think about how your job affects your health.

Where we work and the conditions we work in is a social determinant of health. High demands and long hours in the work place can lead to work stress, a loss of work-life balance and poor physical and/or mental health.

The Health Unit has provided a list of the main points but wants the public to know there are many other options available, as well.

What supports our local employment and working conditions?
· Provincial legislation, the Employment Standard Act, provides guidelines on minimum wage, hours of work, personal emergency leave, pregnancy and parental leave and vacation time
· Employment + Education Centre in Brockville and Ontrac Employment Resource Services in Smiths Falls provide mentorship, training and resources for job seekers and employers
· Local employers offer living wages, health care benefits, retirement saving and family-friendly workplace policies
