A 31 year-old man is under investigation after the truck he was driving lost a tire on the 417 in Ottawa, last week.
The OPP say that on Friday morning a commercial cube van was travelling west on the 417 near Parkdale when one of its wheels came loose and struck an eastbound vehicle, cause it’s airbags to deploy. The tire then re-entered the westbound lanes and came to rest on the windshield of another vehicle.
No injuries were reported however all truck drivers are responsible for the safe operation of their vehicles.
OPP detachment commander Bob Wheeler says “it was miraculous that no one was injured…” and noted that the driver of the cube van was issued a a summons for court for Operating an Unsafe Vehicle.
