Man drowns while trying to rescue boy from Ottawa River

It was a rescue gone wrong. A 39-year-old man jumped into the Ottawa River to save a 12-year-old child from drowning on Saturday night and while the youth was pulled out safely by another 24-year-old man, the older man did not make it back to shore. The Ottawa Police Marine and Dive Unit have recovered his body from the Ottawa river near Bate Island.
The name of the individual had not been released at the time of this report.
