There was a first at this year’s Leeds-Grenville Economic Development Summit.
For the first time in the seven-year history of the Bill Thake Memorial Economic Development Leadership Award it was awarded to three business owners. The winners, who displayed economic leadership in Leeds and Grenville, are; Wendy Banks, the creator of Wendy’s Country Market, Heather Howard, the owner of FoxRun By-The-River Retirement Residence and North Grenville’s own Gerald Tallman, founder and chair of the Tallman Group.
Warden Robin Jones helped present the awards. She said she was proud to honour the major contributions of these individuals and added that all three receiving the award was a moment to remember.
The event was held in Kemptville and attracted over 200 business operators, not-for-profit groups and government representatives.
