Prysmian to add new jobs

Support from the Ontario government is bringing some new, and keeping some old, jobs in the area.

The Ontario government announced this week they would be using money from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to create 33 jobs and retain 244 others across three companies. Most of those jobs are going to be in Prescott. The Ontario government is investing just under $620,000 into the Prysmian Group, a global leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry. Prysmian are also investing over $5,500,000 into the project.

The money will go into the plant on Commerce Drive road, just east of Prescott on highway two. The project will create 15 new jobs and allow the company to retain 197 others. It is expected to be finished by December of 2019.
