A new recommendation from The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario calls for schools to be closed when buses are cancelled due to bad weather.
The union said teachers should not have to put their lives at risk heading to work during winter storms.
The resolution passed Wednesday at the union’s annual convention.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board already has a policy in place which closes schools when buses are cancelled.
No word yet on whether our local boards will adopt the policy.
