North Grenville has officially kicked off Childhood Cancer Awareness month with a special event at the Municipal Centre.
A flag raising ceremony was held on Friday to bring awareness to the disease that is still the number one cause of disease related deaths in Canadian children past infancy.
Mayor David Gordon spoke at the flag raising. Gordon brought attention to the fact that most people have been affected by the disease directly or indirectly.
Canadian Cancer Society Fundraising Specialist Christina Thompson says they appreciate the support through the flag raising.
Neon Night Kemptville, a fundraiser for childhood cancer research, is set for September 23rd. You can learn more about the upcoming event by going to www.cancer.ca/neonnightkemptville.
