Man dead after marine crash during Rideau Ferry Regatta

One person is dead following a marine collision in Rideau Ferry.

Lanark County OPP say at approximately 2:00pm on August 19th they responded to reports of a marine collision during the Rideau Ferry Regatta. A preliminary investigation suggests a marine vessel, which was involved in a scheduled race, became airborne and the driver was ejected from the vessel. According to the OPP a 69-year-old man from Lakeville, Minnesota was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is still ongoing and updates will be made available as they are released by police. If you have any
