Summer students can now apply to be part of OPP Marine Unit

If you enjoy being out on the water or want to pursue a career as a police officer, you may want to apply to be part of the marine unit. While it’s a bit of a drive, if you’re a student looking for a summer job with the OPP Marine Unit, the Frontenac OPP are currently taking applications for marine students. The program provides exposure and experience within the field of Law Enforcement through hands-on experience on a police vessel. Students work with qualified OPP marine operators as they conduct checks on recreational boaters.

In order to apply, please ensure:

•You are able to pass an OPP background security investigation.
•You are at least 18 years of age.
•You must have a valid Ontario G2 (or higher) Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
•You must have a valid and current Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
•You must have valid and current CPR and First Aid certification.
•You must be able to swim 300 metres without stopping.
