Kemptville District Hospital has joined the Ontario Breast Screening Program. That means enhanced services for women and their breast health within the area. As an affiliate, KDH will provide screening mammograms to women every one to two years, depending on risk factors. KDH will also provide a follow-up when it comes to abnormalities detected during screening. They’ll do that in partnership with the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
Vice President of Nursing Cathy Burke says they’ve been working towards this since opening the mammography unit in 2011. KDH is the only site in the Champlain region to be joining the Ontario Breast Screening Program this year.
