Flu has arrived in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark areas

Flu season has arrived within the area of the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Counties Health Unit. The health unit reports the first outbreak of Influenza A within an institution and their first individual diagnosed with Influenza. The organization says the flu season lasts about six to eight weeks, and the best way to protect against it is immunization.

The vaccine is free through local pharmacies, your health care provider and is recommended for everyone over six months of age. You can find out more about participating pharmacies by going to www.healthunit.org or by calling 1-800-660-5853.
