There was a heated discussion at North Grenville’s Committee of the Whole regarding the potential use of a room at the library. Councillor Donovan Arnaud told the library board the room would be used to house the Old Town Kemptville BIA and North Grenville Chamber of Commerce in a common area. Deputy Mayor Barb Tobin brought the issue up at Monday night’s meeting, saying Arnaud and Mayor David Gordon, who was also involved, didn’t follow the correct process and council should have been involved. Tobin says a resolution in 2012 gave the library the room to use. Tobin says both Arnaud and Gordon knew of the resolution. But, Arnaud says he didn’t know and is “guilty by ignorance”. Gordon says they were wrong will give a written apology to the library board.
