Oxford SOS continues to fight to keep Oxford-on-Rideau open

Oxford SOS faces a tough road ahead in the fight to keep its school open. The group is gathering information from a survey and coming up with ideas that it hopes will convince the Upper Canada District School Board that Oxford-on-Rideau Public School should not be closed. Meanwhile, parents and members of the group Brent and Katie Lekx-Toniolo say there are issues with the initial staff report regarding closing schools. One of the issues, they say, has to do with space being counted against enrolment numbers, when it shouldn’t be.

The group says the school board has good reason to reduce the number of schools because financial incentives are being offered through a school consolidation fund. The group will have a chance to present to the Accommodation Review Committee at a public meeting on November 15th. That meeting will take place starting at 6:30pm at South Grenville District High School.
