A tractor-trailer fire caused havoc to motorists when it shut down part of the 416. The Grenville County OPP and the North Grenville Fire Department were on the scene this morning, just south of the Van Buren overpass. The OPP says a brake drum seized causing the fire. The fire then spread to the asphalt that the truck was carrying, causing huge columns of black smoke. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. During that time, the slow lane of the southbound 416 was closed, causing traffic to backup. There were no injuries and the highway was reopened.
