The OPP is using new technology to help solve the murder of Frederick “John” Hatch, who was last seen on December 16th, 2015 in Ottawa. His body was found the next day near Toronto and the OPP says it’s trying to locate witnesses who may have seen Hatch, with text messages that invited people to visit a website and answer a few questions. Those texts were sent to cellphones that were in that same area, around the time of Hatch’s last sighting. While the OPP did not receive personal information connected to the numbers, this new court process called a Production Order allows police a way to try and establish communications with possible witnesses who may be able to help with the investigation.
