Sustainable North Grenville says council should abstain from supporting Energy East Pipeline

Sustainable North Grenville has told council they should abstain from supporting the Energy East Pipeline project, and has asked North Grenville Mayor David Gordon to retract his support of it. Sustainable North Grenville member Chris Weissflog said to the Committee of the Whole last night that there’s no reason North Grenville Council should support the project when they can abstain.

Gordon says he doesn’t believe a motion was coming anytime soon.

Gordon says he supported the project at the county level based on information from research done by the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus. In 2013, North Grenville Council passed a resolution stating it would not comment on the project until TranCanada had released enough information to make an informed decision. Sustainable North Grenville believes that hasn’t happened yet.
