Municipality wants to formalize exemption of municipal property taxes for Legion

The municipality doesn’t charge the Legion for its portion of property taxes in North Grenville, and now, they want to formalize the exemption with a by-law. Committee of the Whole recommended to Council to enact a by-law to exempt the Royal Canadian Legion from the cost for a period of 10 years. In addition, the municipality would set up a grant to cover the cost of the education portion of the taxes. The municipality felt it was important to formalize the exemption with the by-law. The County already exempts the legion from paying its portion.
