North Grenville Committee of the Whole voted in favour of recommending to Council to remove the holding symbol from the Bennett Road Gravel Pit lands. The zoning amendment was the last municipal obstacle in allowing Lafarge to move forward with pit operations on the new lands adjacent to the Moore Pit. Lafarge will now look to get the Moore Pit site plan amendment approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. At last night’s meeting, local resident Tony Marcantonio said residents in the area are concerned about the aquifer, dust from operations, safety, as well as property values.
