Council votes to officially rename armoury building to the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall

North Grenville Council voted unanimously to rename the Armoury building to the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall. The vote came at Monday night’s meeting. Williamson attended North Grenville District High School and served in the Canadian Armed Forces starting in 2003. He was killed West of Kandahar City on October 14th, 2006 during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. President of the local Navy League Mike McIntosh explained why he was pleased with the renaming at Council.

McIntosh says the renaming works hand in hand with what they try to accomplish.

Those who attended Council applauded after the vote. There will be a special ceremony planned for the renaming in the future.
