County Road 31 closed near Winchester til 10pm; crash victims in hospital

The investigation continues into a serious two-car collision on County Road 31 near Winchester.
A Pontiac Sunfire, driven by 20-year-old Andrew Jurgens of South Dundas was southbound on County Road 31 when, for reasons under investigation, his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane colliding head-on with a northbound Buick Century, driven by 80-year-old Mary Vanderlaan of North Dundas. Firefighters attended as extrication was required. Both drivers were taken to hospital by land ambulance with serious injuries. A section of County Road 31 between County Road 13 and County Road 43 remains closed and traffic is being re-routed, therefore slow-downs are expected. The closure is expected to be in effect until approximately 10:00pm. SD&G OPP, assisted by Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) continue to process and investigate the scene.
