A group of local business owners and residents say the future Sens Rink should be located downtown. Butler’s Victorian Pantry owner Terry Butler says if the rink was located in Riverside Park it would fit North Grenville’s Green and Growing motto, by allowing more residents to walk to it.
According to Southgate Church Pastor Ben Last, however, many North Grenville residents still need to drive to the rink whether it’s downtown or at Southgate.
Executive Director of the Old Town Kemptville BIA John Barclay also points out that two rinks are better than one.
The issue, according to CAO Brian Carre is that, without the volunteers from Southgate Church, the municipality would have to bear the costs and risks.
Right now the project awaits the Memorandum of Understanding between Southgate Church, the municipality and the Sens organization.
