North Grenville Committee of the Whole made the recommendation to Council that the Armoury Building be named the Pte. Blake Williamson Memorial Hall. Pte. Williamson attended North Grenville District High School. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2003 and became a member of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment. Pte. Williamson was killed in action on October 14th, 2006 west of Kandahar City. North Grenville Mayor David Gordon says the idea of renaming the Armoury on Reuben Crescent was well received.
Gordon says Councillor Donovan Arnaud was very happy to see this move forward and be recommended to Council.
