Signs bylaw won’t be amended to allow signs on utility poles according to Council members at Committee of the Whole

Some local boys won’t be able to advertise their lawn mowing business on hydro poles any time soon. The parents of the boys know the signs bylaw won’t be changing to allow for the posters after they spoke at Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting in North Grenville. Jamie Beavis and Ken Davidson were at the meeting to present. Davidson says he feels there should be an amendment to the signs bylaw.

CAO Brian Carre says the Provincial Electricity Act means they can’t contradict Provincial Government Legislation in the municipal signs bylaw which means the bylaw can’t be changed in this situation.

One of the suggested alternatives might be to put up a community board to allow these signs to be posted on them in the future.
