Ottawa Senators and Foundation want to partner with Southgate Community Church and Municipality on Sens rink

The Sens and their Foundation want to partner with Southgate Community Church and the North Grenville Municipality to build a Sens rink on French Settlement Road. That’s the message that was brought to Council by Cyril Leeder, President of the Ottawa Senators, last night during a public consultation session. It would be an NHL-sized rink at 85 by 200 feet similar to the Gerry Lowe Memorial Sens Rink in Smith Falls.

While everyone at the public consultation supported the idea of the rink, some residents were concerned about the proposed location.

Council members and Pastor Ben Last, of Southgate Church, both pointed out that the current rink sees heavy usage already and many people drive their children to South Gower Park for baseball and soccer. Leeder said that if the project goes through, based on previous rink projects, we could see it functional in the Winter of 2017.
