North Grenville Safety & Wellness Council identifies local risk factors

The North Grenville Community Safety and Wellness Council will hold their third workshop on July 11th. At the last workshop, participants identified three main priorities that affect safety in our community: lack of access to social and human services, isolation and lack of affordable housing. “Elevated risk” is a reference to any situation where there is an elevated probability of victimization from crime or social disorder. Left unattended such situations could require targeted enforcement or an emergency response. The next step is coming up with ways to reduce the risk factors by sharing of information and services between the partner groups. The Safety and Wellness Council should be operational by the fall of 2014.
