Pipeline Emergency Response exercise conducted in Leeds Grenville

More than 120 frontline Leeds Grenville emergency responders, Counties and municipal leaders participated in a crisis preparedness exercise on Tuesday. The group joined a table-top exercise to coordinate
resources and assess response times and communications. Legislation requires all Ontario municipalities to exercise their emergency plan on an annual basis. Guest speakers at this year’s event included representatives from Trans Canada Pipelines Limited, Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. and Enbridge Pipelines. The sessions had 2 parts; the morning focused on presentations from the pipeline companies regarding their emergency response plans and how municipalities interact with the them during incidents.
The afternoon was a simulation of an Earthquake with an e‎picenter in Ganaoque area. The affects of the Earthquake had differing results across the County. Each Municipality had to deal their emergency and work collectively with the agencies and municipalities within UCLG.
