Former North Grenville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Wendy Chapman has died. She was in hospital in Ottawa to receive further treatment for cancer when she passed away on Sunday afternoon.
Chapman was a devoted promoter and cheerleader of business in North Grenville. She maintained a keen interest in the business community after she became too sick to continue at her post as Chamber director.
John Barclay, Executive Director Old Town Kemptville BIA says Wendy Chapman was one of the first people he met when he moved to North Grenville in June of 2009. He stopped into the Chamber offices to find out what was going on and left twenty minutes later, after an informative chat with Chapman, loaded down with information about North Grenville and a good sense about the business opportunities here.
In Chapman’s own words, on her LinkedIn profile, she sums up her view on economic development: “I am a highly motivated professional who is passionate about our Community and all that it is and can be. I have an ‘inclusive’ mentality and truly believe that working together, we can achieve much. However, I am also very much a ‘give credit where credit is due’ type of person. I don’t take credit for something I didn’t do and I applaud and support those who desire the credit!”
Chapman died in hospital surrounded by family. She was 64 years old. Funeral services will be private but donations can be made her memory, to Beth Donovan Hospice.
