As the school year comes to an end, The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario has recognized the achievements and efforts of people across the school community with Certificates of Appreciation. At St. Michael Catholic High School, Mr. Bortolussi’s creative approach to teaching with a replica of World War One Trench Warfare brought a chapter of Canadian history to live for Grade 10 students. The level of student engagement and excitement was remarkable for this project. The commitment from the teacher also shone through in this hands-on project, which gained national media recognition. Students say the activity brought the curriculum to life for them and it’s an experience they will never forget.
