Giant Tiger breaks ground in Johnstown on new distribution centre

Local dignitaries joined representatives of Giant Tiger corporation yesterday for a groundbreaking ceremony at Johnstown Industrial Park. The Canadian discount store has bought land at the site, for a 600,000 square foot distribution centre. Giant Tiger Executive VP and CFO Paul Wood says the site was a perfect fit for the company’s plan.

Wood also said the site was prepared and ready for construction upon arrival, which was a big plus in the decision to purchase.

United Counties Warden David Gordon, Leeds Grenville MP Gord Brown and MPP Steve Clark were among the local dignitaries present for the special event. Gordon says the new Giant Tiger centre will be a big boost for the local economy, bringing over 270 jobs to Leeds Grenville.
