Giant Tiger breaks ground on new 600,000 sqft centre in Johnstown

Today marks the grand finale of months of collaboration as Giant Tiger breaks ground on their new 600,000 square foot distribution centre. That’s the size of 10 football fields. To celebrate the official start of construction Giant Tiger will host an inaugural ground-breaking ceremony today at its Johnstown Industrial Park site. Members of Giant Tiger’s executive team, including President and COO Thomas Haig, will be joined by members of the municipality including Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Mayor Patrick Sayeau and local MP, Gord Brown. Representatives of Giant Tiger’s founding family, the Reids, will also be in attendance.

In a press release, Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Mayor Pat Sayeau said  “The Johnstown Industrial Park is one of Ontario’s first Certified Site Program industrial parks and we are thrilled to have one of the largest development projects that Leeds and Grenville has seen in years.” The new Giant Tiger distribution centre is scheduled to be operational by summer 2018.
