Police: couple in van not trying to lure children in Prescott

Grenville County OPP have identified the couple involved in suspicious activity in Prescott. Police say they have located the van and all people involved. Investigation shows there was no attempt to lure children. The investigation is now closed.

Original post: The OPP are looking for a suspicious couple who tried to lure some children into their van in Prescott. Just after 5:00pm on Wednesday, police were sent to a store at 109 Churchill Road. Two girls, aged eight and twelve were approached by a man who offered to buy them balloons from the store if they got into his van. When the girls refused, the man said he would find them another time. As the girls continued to walk down the road, the van pulled up again and the man got out and held open the passenger door. The van was being driven by a woman.

The girls then went back to the store and asked the clerk there for help. The van is described as a burgundy Montana type. The man is 50 to 70 years old, 5 foot 10 inches tall with a medium build and a long scraggly mustache. He has short white or grey hair and was wearing jeans and a purple t-shirt with the ‘bowling for kids’ logo in white. The woman was also 50 to 70 years old with a heavy build and hair in a ponytail. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Grenville County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
