North Grenville CAO Brian Carre has returned from meetings with provincial ministers last month with some good news. He says we have applied on three separate occasions for help with infrastructure projects through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund or OCIF. Three times we were denied, with the reason being we appear to have the ability to pay. Carre has voiced the appeal that the formula is faulty, and it isn’t fair that municipalities with good financial stewardship would be denied additional funding. It seems the provincial government has heard the plea.
With construction season just around the corner, an announcement on the new funding formula is expected early spring. One of the projects we are applying for is the widening of County Road 43, in conjunction with the United Counties.
