Nine people are recovering after rolling their van this morning. Just before 11:00 a Town & Country Chrysler Van was travelling west on the 401 east of Maitland in the passing lane. For unknown reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle and then veered to the left before over-correcting, coming across both lanes and striking the rear of a Toyota Highlander traveling in the same direction. The van entered the ditch and rolled before coming to rest. The 9 occupants in the Chrysler van were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries, 8 via ambulance. The driver, 43 year old Hussein Ali Hoopa from Texas has been charged with Careless Driving and 3 counts of driving with a passenger under 16 without a seatbelt. Four occupants in the Toyota Highlander were not injured.
