Police, Municipality look at ways to work together in grow-op investigations

The Municipality of North Grenville and the OPP are looking at ways they can work together on search warrants, particularly as related to a grow-op situation. North Grenville Emergency and Protective Services Director Paul Hutt told the Police Services Board it would simplify things significantly if they are brought in at the beginning of the investigation instead of having to apply for their own search warrant days later.

OPP Inspector Bill Bolton says he has never heard of a municipal official being named on a police search warrant. He says in a criminal investigation, that person might be identified as a witness. But he is going to look into it, because it would simplify the work for all parties concerned, if they are working together on the case from the beginning.
