Clark calls for answers on vehicle registration tax

Leeds Grenville MPP Steve Clark is trying to get to the bottom of the provincial government’s plan for a municipal car tax. In an after-hours debate on Tuesday, Clark asked the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing whether Ontarians will be asked to pay more when they renew their license annually.

Clark says he isn’t convinced most municipalities even want to impose a car tax on their residents.

Clark noted he’s not the only one asking for clarification. The Trillium Automobile Dealers Association, which represents over 1,000 new car dealers in Ontario, wrote to the minister asking him to confirm municipalities won’t be authorized to collect a car tax.
