St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival receives $15,000 in government funding

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival received a financial boost from the government on June 9 when MP Gord Brown a cheque for $15,000 from Canadian Heritage, under the banner of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. This summer is an exciting one for the Festival, as it brings in a variety of music, comedy and theatre performances to Prescott from Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and London, England. The most prominent of the events is the visit of Shakespeare’s Globe and their production of Hamlet on August 2nd, which sold out within 50 minutes of going on sale to the public on Shakespeare’s birthday, April 23rd.
