Kemptville athletes competing at Special Olympics Provincial Championships

Three students from St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville, have qualified for the Special Olympics Provincial School Championships. Jillian Simpson, Ben Sunderland and Matthew Cadney will participate in track and field events such as the 50m, 100m and 200m as well as shot-put and standing long jump. Special Olympics Ontario’s focus is to facilitate sports training, education and athletic competitions for high school students who have varying abilities. In its 3rd annual Four Corners sports series, over 1,000 secondary students participated in either soccer, bocce ball, track and field or basketball events held across the Province. Of the over 200 teams that participated in these events, only 48 qualified for the Provincial Championships taking place in Toronto this week.
