Kemptville District Hospital staff training for Chemical, Biological emergency

This morning Kemptville District Hospital staff will practice how to deal with an uncontrolled release of a Chemical , Biological, Radiological, Nuclear or Explosive substance. A mixture of KDH nursing, support and building services staff will be taking part. Representatives from EMS and Kemptville OPP will be observing the exercise. The scenario for this exercise will remain under wraps until the time of the event. In April 2013 KDH held a CBRNE training exercise in the ER parking lot, where staff practised how to deal with an uncontrolled release of one of these substances. They set up a large tent equipped with hoses and practiced decontaminating the “victims” of a spill of one of these dangerous substances before taking them into the ER. This emergency preparedness training event is organized by the KDH Joint Health & Safety committee.
